Google Maps Updates Street View for New Orleans

Google Street View first came to New Orleans in 2008, just three years after Hurricane Katrina. The original images showed areas that were unaffected by the disaster and others that remained completely devastated.
Fast forward to 2012, and Google has introduced updated images of the iconic city.

With revamped streets and playgrounds, and even a view of an improved Congo Square in Louis Armstrong Park—which mayor Mitch Landrieu refers to as the birthplace of jazz—it’s clear that conditions continue to improve in the cultural hub that is New Orleans.
Google Maps allows users explore areas around the globe, but it also helps us remember the past. Google posted before and after photos of 2011′s tsunami in Japan, providing the world with a real-life glimpse of the damage that was caused.
As for New Orleans, Landrieu says he is proud of his city, and these images serve as a reminder that, despite past events, the jazz plays on.

Beck Releases New Single With Jack White

Teaming up with Jack White, Beck released the menacing country number "I Just Started Hating Some People Today" on Third Man Records this week.

The song skirts the line between a range of styles, including punk (with White supplying screaming vocals), smooth funk, and country. It is delightfully cathartic, rife with bluesy guitar slides and a chorus that asserts that Beck was "saying things that a garbage-man would not say." The track also features syrupy vocals from White's ex-wife and fellow Third Man artist Karen Elson.

According to the Third Man website, "Today" and its B-Side "Blue Randy" were recorded in 2011 while Beck was recording in Nashville. Both tracks were conceived and recorded on the musician's final day in the studio.

Both songs are now available to purchase on iTunes, and a limited vinyl pressing with the tracks is available via the Third Man website.

Though the follow up to 2008's critically acclaimed "Modern Guilt" has yet to be announced, Beck has been in the studio recording tracks since late 2011. Last week, he returned to the stage at the Santa Barbara Bowl and will appear next at New York's Governor's Ball Festival in late June and San Francisco's Outside Lands Festival in August.

Is This Apple’s New Logo?

As Apple CEO Timothy D. Cook left the stage at the close of the company’s media event on Wednesday,  rainboytie-dye Apple logo appeared on the huge screen behind him.
When pictures of the logo emerged, speculation erupted on Twitter as to whether or not this could be a new Apple logo. Posts from Gizmodo and VentureBeat have only added to the mystery.
As Apple CEO Timothy D. Cook left the stage at the close of the company’s media event on Wednesday, a rainbowtie-dye Apple logo appeared on the huge screen behind him.
When pictures of the logo emerged, speculation erupted on Twitter as to whether or not this could be a new Apple logo. Posts from Gizmodo and VentureBeat have only added to the mystery.
Some on Twitter speculated that the image was a throwback to thecla Rob Janoff-designed rainbow logo that was used from the 1970s until 1998. But perhaps it’s just a one-time thing, meant to emphasize Apple’s new Retina display on its latest version of the iPad.
Whatever the case, The Huffington Post has reached out to two separate Apple representatives for more information, and will report any response from the company.
And if this is a new logo, it would be the first change in nearly a decade. Apple last changed its logo in 2003, according to Wired, adding a chrome finish to the iconic apple. Apple ditched the rainbow colors in 1998 in favor of a monochromatic apple image.
