THE team of Mark Kavanagh and
Michael Rodd combined to win todays $200,000 Cranbourne Cup with
Midnight Martini just six days before they team up with December Draw in
next Saturdays Caulfield Cup.
“She’s a talented mare and it’s good to see her back flying. The
blinkers on made a difference and she really sprinted away from them in a
good return to form," Kavanagh said.Kavanagh said this time last
year he was trying to get her into the Melbourne Cup but she broke down
in the Lexus Stakes at Flemington.
Kavanagh said he would set her for the Matriarch Stakes (2000m) on the final day of the Flemington carnival.Midnight Martini took over on turning and sprinted away to win by three lengths over Streets Away, with Streaky Fella third.
Consistent
Adelaide sprinter Obsidian Dragon took out the other feature race at
Cranbourne, the $100,000 Apache Cat Classic (1000m).
