Harlem hip-hop phenom Azealia Banks has linked up with a veteran New
York rapper, LOX member Styles P, for a new track, "Nathan,"
released on Saturday (June 30).
Produced by Drums of Death, "Nathan" displays the different
microphone approaches of the upstart Banks and and elder statesman
of NYC rap, with Styles' duck-and-weave verse sandwiched between two
sets of Azealia tongue-twisters. As synthesizers squeal beneath her
voice, the 21-year-old Banks spits, "Ketchup, I'm hot dog,
frankfurters, ya Nathan, but relish hatin'."
Banks posted "Nathan" to her Twitter account on Saturday, hours after declaring,
"Styles P is literally my FAVORITE rapper." Like previous online
releases "Jumanji" and "Aquababe," the track may appear on Banks'
forthcoming "Fantasea" mixtape, due out on July 11. The rapper has
previously issued the "1991" EP, which gave a home to her
breakout single, "212."
Meanwhile, Banks recently
popped up on a remix to M.I.A.'s "Bad Girls," which was released
last week and also featured Missy Elliott. The remix will be
released on a custom USB necklace, along with two other new cuts of
the single.
